Quality Assurance Technician – Night Shift

Operations – Factory Technical
At Whitworths Ltd we’re passionate about delivering high-quality, nutritious foods that customers can trust. Our people play a vital role in making that happen. We’re proud of our collaborative culture where teamwork, accountability and respect shape the way we work together.
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Factory Technical team on a night shift pattern (Sunday–Thursday, 22:45–07:15). This role is key to ensuring our products consistently meet the highest standards of food safety, quality and compliance while supporting our Operations and Supply Chain teams.
In this role, you’ll spend much of your time on the factory floor monitoring product quality and verifying that manufacturing processes follow Whitworths food safety and quality standards. You will carry out internal audits across production and quality management systems, review packaging and product specifications, and ensure line checks meet agreed standards. Where issues arise, you’ll help identify root causes, support corrective actions and work closely with colleagues to prevent recurrence.
You’ll also play an important role in supporting new product launches, checking first production runs to ensure they meet customer and specification requirements. The role includes monitoring cleaning standards, releasing production lines, verifying equipment such as metal detectors and checkweighers, and supporting allergen management procedures within manufacturing areas. In addition, you’ll help manage non-conforming products, support traceability activities and assist the technical team with external audits, customer visits and complaint investigations.
