About The Role

Are you a warehouse or logistics leader who builds strong teams, creates structure and helps people deliver their best work? At Whitworths, our warehouse plays a vital role in keeping our customers, production teams and wider supply chain moving. 

We’re looking for an Operations Manager for our Warehouse to lead a safe, reliable and efficient warehouse operations across our shifts and functional areas.  

What are the main responsibilities of the job role? 

 This is a key position where you’ll support and engage with our Warehouse colleagues to strengthen day-to-day performance and help create a positive, well-organised and safe environment where colleagues can succeed. You’ll help ensure goods are received, stored and dispatched safely, accurately and on time.

You’ll bring clarity, consistency and support to our warehouse operation — setting clear expectations, helping teams understand what good looks like and giving them the tools, coaching and direction to deliver consistently high standards.

You will also:

  • Lead and develop our Warehouse team, supporting them to build capable, engaged and flexible teams.
  • Create an environment where colleagues feel supported, challenged and able to grow.
  • Create clear plans for labour, shift coverage, warehouse capacity and operational priorities.
  • Support safe, compliant and consistent warehouse activity across inbound, storage, stock movement and outbound operations.
  • Use KPI data to understand performance, identify root causes and agree practical improvement actions.
  • Strengthen stock accuracy, WMS discipline, audit readiness, food safety and health and safety standards.
  • Improve productivity and service through structured continuous improvement activity.
  • Work closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Packaging, Engineering, Technical, HR, Finance and Supply Chain colleagues.
  • Plan labour, overtime and agency use in a fair, efficient and cost-conscious way.
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
  • Experience leading front-line managers, team leaders or equivalent operational teams.
  • A strong understanding of warehouse or logistics operations, including inbound, storage and outbound activity.
  • Good working knowledge of WMS, stock control, MHE, inventory accuracy, health and safety and audit standards.
  • The ability to use data, trends and root-cause analysis to improve performance.
  • A calm, structured and supportive leadership style.
  • Confidence working with different teams and balancing operational priorities.
  • Experience with labour planning, productivity, costs or budget recovery actions.
