Coating Process Technician
Part technician. Part problem-solver. All about brilliant products.
At Whitworths, great products start with great processes and people who know how to keep them running at their best.
We’re looking for a hands-on Coating Process Technician to take ownership of our coating lines, turning carefully controlled recipes into consistently high-quality products. From mixing and depositing chocolate to monitoring performance and solving problems, you’ll be right at the heart of production.
Your mission
You’ll help deliver the best possible output from the line without compromising safety, food quality or standards. Working closely with your Front Line Manager and colleagues across Operations, Technical and Continuous Improvement, you’ll:
- Set up, start and operate equipment across the coating department
- Mix and deposit chocolate accurately, following agreed recipes and specifications
- Complete quality inspections and record results correctly
- Monitor line performance, investigate issues and escalate concerns promptly
- Make sure materials, equipment and resources are ready when they’re needed
- Maintain high standards of food safety, allergen control, hygiene and housekeeping
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste
- Keep your line clean, organised and audit-ready
- Support product trials, factory audits and improvement projects
- Share your knowledge and help train and develop other colleagues
What you’ll bring
You don’t need to have held this exact job title before. If you understand food manufacturing, enjoy learning how processes work and like taking responsibility for getting things right, we want to hear from you.
You’ll need:
- Previous experience within food manufacturing
- The ability to understand and follow safety-critical instructions
- A practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with different teams
- A reliable, organised and self-motivated approach
- The flexibility to respond when production priorities change
Previous line-minding or team-leader experience would be an advantage, as would knowledge of HACCP, critical control points, 6S or IFS, but we’re also interested in your potential and willingness to learn.
This is an active role involving regular manual handling because of our manufacturing processes. Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments during recruitment or to perform the role.
Why Whitworths?
You’ll join a supportive team where your ideas matter, your skills can grow and your contribution can be seen in every product that leaves the line. For someone with ambition, this role can open doors into areas including frontline management, planning, operations and quality.
Different experiences and perspectives make our teams stronger. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds who share our STAR values: finding Solutions, working through Teamwork, taking Accountability and treating everyone with Respect.
Ready to turn great ingredients into something even better?
