About The Role

 What are the main responsibilities of the job role? 

To provide the coordination of the Engineering Support Team to all business units with the primary function of minimising machine and equipment downtime and maximising productivity and delivering the Planned Preventive Maintenance Plan.

  • This role will need to understand the business and functional strategy and their role in supporting and delivering.
  • In conjunction with the operational team, identify and implement continuous improvement ideas from conception to completion
  • With consultation with the Head of Engineering and Health & Safety Manager, decide on any necessary modifications to machinery
  • Update Planned Preventative Maintenance actions to improve the reliability of the installed equipment
  • Ensure the shift provides engineering support to production on a 24/5 basis or if required during additional running periods.
  • Personally, make Health and Safety a priority always ensuring compliance with Policies and Instruction
  • Comply with all other company Policies and Procedures
  • Take responsibility for the operational engineering effectiveness of the shift
  • Minimise plant downtime by ensuring the effective application of good engineering maintenance practices through the team
  • Ensure that manufacturer’s documentation and hard copy records of machine settings are kept up to date and available
  • Complete all engineering documentation in a timely manner and ensure that the Head of Engineering is kept informed of issues
  • Decide how and when to adjust and / or make routine repairs to machinery in conjunction with the operations team
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and ensure all tools are accounted for every shift across all areas
  • In conjunction with the production and planning departments, plan routine repairs to machinery and equipment
  • In consultation with the wider engineering team decide on preventative maintenance plans
  • Manage the spares stock ensuring the critical spares are available for all the plant/equipment in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Maintain the stock levels through efficient stock management control
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with the team, to organise the day-to-day work across all the team to achieve its aims and objectives. As a team leader, they will hold the individuals within the team accountable for their job responsibilities and guide the team. The TL will represent the teams’ requests to the next level of management.
  • Will use relevant policies and procedures to ensure the individuals maintain good attendance and adhere to company rules. Manages absence, holidays, disciplinary issues as appropriate.
  • Takes responsibility for basic performance management, performing 1-2-1's and end of year reviews. Ensures appropriate training takes place.
  • Maintain and develop a highly motivated team with a developing set of skills to support LEAN improvement initiatives
  • Manage contractors when on site and issue permits to work when required
