About The Role

Are you passionate about food quality and have a knack for food standards wizardry? We're looking for a Quality Manager to oversee our food manufacturing processes and ensure every product is not just delicious, but to a high standard!

As our Quality Manager your focus will be on food safety, legality and quality. This is a role that requires flexibility due to the team covering all shifts however your core hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. 

As a Quality Manager you will be responsible to provide competent and efficient technical support and service to both internal teams and external customers to ensure that the product and service provided is fit for purpose and meets both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations. To coordinate and maintain the activities required to meet safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all relevant standards set for Hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices are met at all times, working in conjunction with the relevant production or warehousing personnel.
  • Ensure that all necessary cleaning/remedial works/actions are completed and any failure to complete requested actions to be escalated to the Technical Manager immediately.
  • Identify, implement, set and maintain clearly defined standards for  GMP, hygiene of the operational facility and develop systems to ensure these are maintained through audit processes
  • Ensure that all product protection measures are in place and correctly equipped and operated.  All items liable to cause product contamination are to be removed/resolved immediately by direct action and/or in conjunction with manufacturing/warehousing.
  • Responsible for ensuring engineering work is satisfactorily completed to minimize the risk of foreign body contamination and all documentation completed prior to release to production.
  • Resolve product quality issues promptly, ensuring any corrective action is correct and suitable and followed to conclusion and close out.
  • To monitor plant hygiene standards through swabbing and sampling including, reporting on patterns and trend analysis.
  • Ensure visual quality attribute standards are available for production use and are correct and up to date at all times.
  • Participate in the site HACCP team, ensuring HACCP pre-requisite plans and procedures are maintained and remain up to date.
  • Investigate to root cause and report on customer complaints and recommend corrective and preventative actions where possible. Brief factory teams on complaints performance.
  • Ensure all processes conform to current food hygiene legislation and customer requirements.
  • Ensuring and actively involved in monitoring and compliance – identifying trend and data analysis and compilation and presentation of reports of compliance and any other areas as identified necessary.
  • To manage the non-conformance system and ensure all internal and external close outs are carried out. 
  • Understand the requirement of 3rd party standards; develop and implement the required controls and audit compliance to the standard.
  • Actively participate in identifying, designing and presenting technical training to all relevant employees across the business.
  • Deputise for Factory Technical Manager in their absence.
  • Aware of the incident management procedure and how it is activated.
  • Carry out complex root cause analysis using a variety of tools to provide solutions; escalating the learnings.

The ideal candidate

  • Passionate about Food!
  • FMCG or Food manufacturing experience
  • Excellent knowledge of CCP’s, traceability and HACCP and Allergens
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Actively works to improve the capability of others
  • Is a role model, passionate and perseveres in pursuit of challenging goals
  • Uses coaching techniques to help people reflect on feedback
  • Involves the team in new projects and initiatives
  • Talks positively about business challenges and future prospect
